If the Physical Therapist believes that their issue is something more serious, they will send the patient to a physician of some sort. Most likely, the result will be if that doctor has a patient that needs PT, they will send the patient to the Physical Therapist that referred a patient to the doctor. This helps both practices build partnership and have some benefits. This source is credible because it is a website that Physical Therapists use to study and get tips. According to the article “the [physical therapist] functioned as a technician by following the order from the referring physician” (Liu, Hao, Fletcher) which means that the treatment plan was based upon the physician’s order. Over time, physical therapists have become more known to the average person and are gaining more responsibilities as they are beginning to prove that they have the experience educational experience, and skills to operate on their own rather than following strict orders by the physicians. This source is reliable because it is a government source. Even though it used other sources to back its points up, it had them all cited correctly so that if needed, the readers can access them. This article relates to my potential research because it provides some background information on the relationship between physical therapists and physicians. It also goes into the efforts being made to help them gain independence from physicians. This source directly related to my topic so therefore was very helpful. It also does not contain bias because of the fact that is describes the basic outline of what Physical Therapists the importance of what they do.
